Let's put people first.

I'm a lifelong Hoosier who wants to help make life easier for you in Buck Creek Township. For too long, Hancock County has been dominated by Republicans who put business interests over your interests. They take your vote for granted — I won't.

I am a moderate Democrat who cares most about the same kitchen-table issues you do. I believe in efficient, smart government — and one that operates transparently. I'm a resident of the northwest corner of Buck Creek Township, an area currently underrepresented in the township and county government.

If elected, I'll work with the Buck Creek Township Trustee to ensure an honest and open operation that serves as a good steward of your taxpayer dollars. If you vote for me on November 3, I promise to always listen to you before the moneyed interests.

About Nick

I've lived in Indiana my entire life. I'm a proud product of Indiana schools. I have bachelor's and master's degrees from IU, and yes, I'm just as stunned as you — pleasantly so — by the football team's meteoric rise.

I've worked in journalism, marketing, and government relations, bringing to each the same clear communication that I hope to bring to the Buck Creek Township Advisory Board.

I do have a confession: I'm married to a Texan. But my wife, Lindy, has lived in Indiana since 2010, so I hope you'll cut her some slack. We've been married since 2012 and live in the Stansbury neighborhood in McCordsville. I serve on the homeowner association board. Our busy, raucous household includes the 8-year-old dynamo Benji, two dogs, and two cats.

I attend the Church of the Nativity and volunteer my time/resources to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Indiana, FACE Low-Cost Animal Clinic, WFYI, and other causes important to me.

The Issues

priorities

Fire protection & emergency services

This is a non-negotiable. Buck Creek Township Fire is too important to the area. The budget shortfalls caused by Senate Enrolled Act 1 may require some creative solutions—and perhaps more money from the county RDC than the piecemeal amounts they give now—but adequate public safety is a baseline for any economic development in an area. People have to be safe.
Transparency in government

Buck Creek Township was in the local news in 2024 due to acrimony between the trustee and the Republican board, though the true story never came out. It crystallized for me that government — at any level — needs to operate frankly and openly with the public. I will ensure this.
Lean, efficient operations

The township's budget is relatively small. While the Buck Creek Township Advisory Board doesn't set tax rates, it doesn't mean we shouldn't watch our pennies. I plan to forgo the modest board salary as one way to save money and ensure it goes to the most essential services – not overhead.
Advocate for smart land use & development
While township government doesn't control zoning, I will advocate for the people of Buck Creek Township at meetings where these issues are discussed. While I don't oppose growth in general, it must be done smartly. Businesses that want to locate here should pay to support the community around it. The business should also make sense for the community and not unduly harm our vital infrastructure, environment, and overall character.
Ensure services aren't compromised
The fate of township government in Indiana is uncertain at this point. If at some point in the future, Buck Creek Township has to consolidate with other townships or cede authority to the county, I will ensure the people of Buck Creek don't lose essential services.
